Verkehrs- und Ischlerbahnmuseum Mondsee

The museum is open from May 1 to October 26, Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00.

The museum, which is housed in the original boiler house, is a reminder of the former narrow-gauge railroad that connected Salzburg with Bad Ischl until 1957.

On even-numbered weeks, the locomotives and carriages are changed so that the railroad is constantly changing and the visit is always exciting. Each set returns three times.

In another building you can see a model of the section of line from St. Lorenz to Mondsee station and the workshop in Salzburg Itzling. There is also an original Class 3 passenger coach and one in which Emperor Franz Josef I traveled. In a large model exhibition you will find ready-to-run layouts, some of the models are changed in the even weeks so that your visit is always exciting. Three original ships that sailed on Lake Mondsee are on display in the outdoor area. As a souvenir, you can purchase postcards, books, H0 models and more in the well-stocked store.
