The museum is currently closed due to illness.
Immerse yourself in the history of the pile-dwelling cultures, the Mondsee monastery and the Mondsee writing school and experience the sculptures of the baroque sculptor Meinrad Guggenbichler
Today, the relics of an outstanding cultural period can still be admired at the Pile Dwelling Museum. Additionally, the Locale Heritage Museum focuses on the history of the local Monastery, founded in 748, and its renowned Writing School. Due to Mondsee´s location right on the shores of Mondsee Lake, fishing has always played an important role in the town´s history.
Among the highlights ranks a special exhibition on Meinrad Guggenbichler, a famous master in the art of Baroque sculpture. Exhibits on display in the ancient Monastery´s Library include photographs and documents.
