Bauern-& Freilichtmuseum Mondsee

We warmly welcome you to the Rauchhaus open air museum in Mondsee!

The most important exhibit on display is the authentic Mondseeland farmstead and its numerous in-house exhibitions. The building itself is made of wood and comprises the living area, the stables and the barn, all under the same roof. Every room is fully-equipped with tools, things of everyday life and farm machinery providing the visitor with insights into the way of life on a traditional farm. The grain was stored on the upper floor and - thanks to the missing flue - also dried by the smoke. Therefore, the original name of this Mondseeland farm type was "Rauchhaus" (Smoke House).

01 May to 26 October: Tuesday to Friday: 10:00 to 17:00
Group tours also possible outside opening hours by prior arrangement.
